“Long-Travel” suspension simply means that the usable up and down movement of the wheels is increased. This allows the truck to navigate larger bumps (and jumps!) at higher speed. The addition of better (bigger, longer) shocks is mandatory to control this additional movement. Tire clearance is also an issue, but can be helped by cutting more clearance in the stock fenders or installing larger fiberglass fenders.

The growth of recreational off-roading has been phenomenal in the past 5 years. The demand for strong and useable suspension has changed long-travel suspension from purely fabricated (and very expensive), to kits that can “bolt-on” to most popular trucks. Just like regular lift kits, it important to choose the right one for the job.

The addition of a quality long-travel suspension system typically includes upper and lower a-arms, and tie-rods which are longer and stronger than stock. A longer but softer coil spring, and a shock that is larger, with the capacity for the additional travel. In the rear you typically will have the choice of better leaf springs and shocks, or “link” style rear suspension which includes trailing arms and 4 or 5 link systems.

Long travel suspension systems are able to handle better off-road, be softer on the street, and be stronger than stock!

Prices start at $3200 and up installed.
